A large and enthusiastic crowd, fabulous food and a spectacular venue all contributed to a great event when Business & Tourism East Gippsland hosted a Finalists’ Breakfast for the Federation Business School East Gippsland Business Awards on Thursday 28 September.
Despite the very early morning start in Lakes Entrance, everyone was pleased to be part of the event. Mr. Ian Harrison, Chair of BTEG, said: “This is the first time in a number of years that we have run a breakfast for our finalists but we will certainly do it again next year. It is a great opportunity to celebrate this special group of business owners and operators who have made it to the finalist stage of the Business Awards and regardless of the final outcome, they are all winners to have come this far.”
In excess of 100 people attended the Breakfast, including finalists, sponsors, judges and dignitaries, including the Mayor, CEO of the Shire and local MP, Tim Bull. Mr Ian Harrison, Chair of BTEG, opened the proceedings and the Mayor, Cr Joe Rettino, spoke about the importance of business to East Gippsland.
Mr. Martin Richardson, The Right Man, certainly lived up to his name, doing a great job as MC for the morning’s event.
There are a total of 14 Platinum categories and four Gold categories in this year’s Business Awards and the finalists in each category were presented with a framed certificate by their category sponsor.
The morning also included a fast paced and informative presentation from Dr Vaughan Reimers of Federation Business School, entitled “Five Tips for Making a Great Business even Greater”
Caterers, Albert & Co of Lakes Entrance did an amazing job providing a variety of culinary creations and Bellevue on the Lakes provided a spectacular venue for the breakfast.
Matt O’Donnell, owner of Albert & Co and joint sponsor of the Finalists’ Breakfast, said: “This is another great opportunity to showcase our innovative menu items to the business community and also to show our support for the Business Awards.”
Sam Barton of the Bellevue, joint sponsors with Albert & Co, said she was also pleased to show support for the East Gippsland Business Awards.
The winners of the Federation Business School East Gippsland Business Awards will be announced at the Gala Ceremony on Thursday 19 October at the Bairnsdale RSL. Tickets are available from (https://www.trybooking.com/SHZX).
