Business & Tourism East Gippsland is pleased to announce that all of the chambers of commerce and business & tourism associations in East Gippsland will offer 12 months of free membership to those businesses who enter the Federation Business School East Gippsland Business Awards and who are not currently s members of their local business and tourism organisation.
“We see this as a real plus and encouragement to businesses to enter the Awards and also as an opportunity for our local chambers of commerce and business & tourism associations to gain new members and thereby new and fresh ideas for the future growth and development of these organisations,” Janet Burton, Executive Officer to BTEG said.
Membership of a local chamber of commerce or business and tourism association provides many benefits for businesses, including a publicity boost in on-line and off-line formats; advertising opportunities; the opportunity to network with other local businesses and discuss common issues and potential solutions; the chance to share successes and gain new ideas; and networking opportunities, both within the local organisation as well as the wider business community. A number of local organisations also run courses in response to member needs and/or discuss these needs with BTEG, which can often seek external funding and run courses and seminars to meet the needs of local business operators.
Simon Ellis, President of the Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce said: “We think this is a great initiative. As a Chamber we are very supportive of the Business Awards and also very keen to attract new members to our organisation. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the Bairnsdale RSL with optional dinner at 6:00pm followed by a brief meeting at 7:00pm. We discuss issues of concern to the local business community, organise local activities and periodically have guest speakers to talk about key business issues. We also organise business showcase and networking nights on a bi-monthly basis.”
There are eleven chambers of commerce / business and tourism associations across East Gippsland that are members of Business and Tourism East Gippsland and they all welcome new members with open arms.
