Judging

The awards will be judged by an independent judge from outside of East Gippsland Shire Council.
The 2021 Awards Judge is Anthony M Turner who has a background in sales, marketing, and strategic management at local, national, and international levels.

Since 2003 he has supported over 5000 independent small businesses as a business coach, business Mentor and business skills workshop creator/facilitator. He has also been heavily involved with disaster recovery support having spent 7 years supporting businesses impacted by natural disasters in Tasmania/Victoria and is co-author of the dual Resilience Australia Award winning book Are U Ready? Surviving small business disaster.

Anthony has also been a panellist in support of Beyond Blues New Access for Small Business program, is a Member of the Small Business Mentoring Service, Small Enterprise Association of Aus. & NZ, a Fellow and a founding Director of The Small Business Institute plus a broadcaster via the Small Business Banter and Biz Success Radio Podcasts.

in terms of actual judging, Anthony will be…

  • Assessing and providing written feedback will be provided to all applicants
  • Selecting and making a site visit to the finalists in each category based on the assessment process (there will normally be two finalists selected per award category)
  • Nominating Category Winners to East Gippsland Shire Council – please note the decision on Winners by the Judge is  final, and no discussion can be entered.

  • Have you provided relevant supporting information? Examples may include:
    • Photos
    • Graphs or tables that show growth in the business
    • Surveys you may have undertaken
    • Extracts from Guests/Visitor books
    • Feedback received from customers, ie. Emails, letters, etc.

Recognising Finalists & Winners

  • Finalists will be announced 14 October and then be invited to a Finalist's Breakfast held on Thursday 28 October at Albert & Co Lakes Entrance.
  • Each category finalist will receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement.
  • The winner for each category will be presented with a certificate and trophy. Winners of the Federation University East Gippsland Business Awards 2021 will be announced at the Winners Presentation to be held at the Forge Theatre Bairnsdale on Thursday 18 November 2021.
  • All finalists are encouraged to attend and to invite staff, family, and friends to share in this celebratory event recognising excellence in East Gippsland businesses.
