East Gippsland’s vibrant food and fibre sector plays a major role in the region’s economy and the resilience of its communities. East Gippsland’s abundant quality produce is enjoyed by consumers locally, in Melbourne and across Victoria, Australia and the world. Quality local produce and food experiences make an important contribution to the region’s visitor economy.
Food & Fibre Gippsland emerged in March 2019, through the amalgamation of the East Gippsland Food Cluster and Agribusiness Gippsland. It is the collaborative force, creating opportunities for a prosperous and sustainable Gippsland Food & Fibre sector.
With a focus on building upon core capabilities from across the region to promote, influence and create positive outcomes for the whole of the $7 billion food & fibre sector, collaboration, innovation and engagement are the three core principles for this important peak body.
In terms of size of businesses and types of products, the region is large and the sector is diverse – and Food & Fibre Gippsland is committed to representing and being inclusive, whilst encouraging knowledge sharing for the greater good of the sector.
Food & Fibre Gippsland aims to be an integral support and stakeholder in projects, initiatives and activities that make a positive impact on productivity, profitability, prosperity, people and in the bigger picture, the planet.
